Port Augusta hosted the last mandatory stopover for the 2009 Global Green Challenge last week.
It was one of 10 stops during the 3021 kilometre journey across the Australian outback, from Darwin to Adelaide.
Thirty solar vehicles from 16 countries participated in the biannual event.
The Tokai Challenger from Tokai University won the challenge in 29 hours and 49 minutes.
The Global Green Challenge ran alongside the event, testing vehicles in a environmentally focussed fuel economy race. A 6.2-litre V8 Holden Special Vehicles Maloo utility won that event, averaging 7.74 litres per 100 kilometres.
