Medical students come North

08 Feb, 2012 09:07 AM
Port Augusta has opened up the door of opportunity for nine young medical students, who were welcomed to the city at the Australian Arid Lands Botanic Gardens last week.

The five fifth-year students would stay in Port Augusta for a year, and three fourth-year students would be here for nine weeks and they’re all enthusiastic about the learning experiences ahead of them.

The students would be placed in practices throughout Port Augusta and will learn essential practical clinical skills under the supervision and guidance of local General Practitioners (GPs).

Some of the students were no strangers to Port Augusta, as David Barlow and Latimah Simpson did a nine-week stint here last year.

Fellow student Nathan Eardley-Harris did a nine-week rotation between Port Augusta and Clare in 2011.
