300 games for Fullerton

09 Sep, 2009 01:28 PM
Surrounded by his teammates and family, Ashley Fullerton ran on to the field on Saturday and into his 300th game with the Spencer Gulf League.

His two children Sophie and Lucas were by his side as he ran through a banner that summed up his football career – loyal and dedicated.

Fullerton started playing football when he was seven years old, and has played with Central Augusta since that time.

His senior career started in 1992, on ANZAC Day - he has played 284 league games and 16 reserve games, and won his club’s Fairest and Best award in 2001.

His mother Geraldine, remembered when Ashley first started playing as a youngster - the kids would often sit on the ground playing in the sand when the ball was not at their end.

Amanda Fullerton, Ashley’s wife, said that Fullerton loves playing for the club, and the family was proud of his achievements.

“It is such a wonderful achievement,” she said.

After winning his last match by four points on Saturday against Ports, Fullerton’s team has secured Centrals a place in the 2009 SGL Grand Final.
