The A Grade competition could not possibly be more even with four of the five teams equal on eight points and all with two wins. Quorn sits atop the ladder via percentage points (1.519) from Central-Stirling (1.390), South Augusta (1.041) and West Augusta 1.002.
The Willsden Wolves are yet to win a game but are more competitive every week.
Wins to South and West over the weekend evened up the league as Quorn had the bye and the Tigers were beaten for the first time this season.
At ETSA the Bulldogs claimed a six-wicket victory over Willsden with Nick Callary’s 68 not out and Greg Shirley making 47, at the top of the innings, the stand-out performances.
Playing against his former club, Darren Shillabeer took 3/45 with his medium-pacers.
Batting first the Wolves did very well to post 9/177 with number 10 Berry top-scoring with 33 as he and Tobin Taylor (24) slammed 63 for the ninth wicket.
At Chinnery Central-Stirling could only muster 136 as they were bowled out in the 48th over by Hobbs (3 wickets), Brown (3/20), Mc Inerney (2) and Williams (1/15).
For the Black and Gold, Nathan Khan stroked 47 at number five and opener Drew Mc Donald punched 27 to make over half of the total team score.
The Hawks had little trouble in reeling the total in as Myers (37) and Fisher (36) put on 78 for the first wicket leaving Williams, Mc Inerney, Mark Benbow and Peart to steer them over the line.
Ex-West Augusta all-rounder and premiership player Josh Dunstan did most with the ball taking 3/34 from his 10 overs.
This Saturday it is the top-of-the-table clash between Quorn and Central-Stirling at Quorn Oval.
The Tigers probably edge the Demons with the bat with the bowling attacks fairly even thus far. I will tip Central-Stirling to outscore their hosts and win by 25 runs.
At Chinnery West Augusta and Willsden go head to head and the Hawks will claim this by 6 wickets. South Augusta has the bye.
