Bloods first and Fullerton 300th

26 Aug, 2009 11:19 AM

The Bloods are the 2009 SGL minor premiers and they face the third-placed Lions a team very capable of beating them.

Interestingly Centrals have not lost to the Lions in the past ten meetings spread over three seasons.

If Mark Fuller continues his great form from last week the Lions will have no answer as they are not blessed with great height.

In fact Ray Hayes has assembled a very impressive and tall “spine” starting with Harris at fullback, Fuller centre half back, Jackson in ruck, Morris at centre half forward and Curnow at full-forward. With Callary, Quigley, Wilson, Dodd, Dawson and Hull the running brigade is very strong and the defence with McKnight, Crabbe, Harris and Fullerton (playing his 300th SGL game) proving experience and size invaluable.

The Lions boast a flexible team full of confidence and the “Killer T’s” in Tate Bradley, Tom Harmer, Tyron George, Tyson Horsnell and Tim Dunkley. Add the Edwards’, O’Connor, Sawyer, Pine, Marsland, Ware and Ley and then Bloods have their hands-full.

Watch for Sean Dawson and Shane Curnow to kick five each and the Bloods to win the game on the strength of a great first term.

Tip: Centrals 33 points.
