Hawk demolition

03 Jun, 2009 03:38 PM
League leader West Augusta continued on its winning way with an 81-point demolition of Solomontown in round seven of SGL football played in Port Pirie on Saturday.

After an even first quarter, West was able to get on top of the Cats who continually turned the ball over.

West had a spearhead at its goal front in Shannon Page who kicked eight goals – one of the many winners the Hawks had all over the ground.

The Cats found it difficult to penetrate the Hawks defence, but when it did, wasted several opportunities with poor disposal, although first gamer Steven Swayne get into the act with two goals.

James Moyses turned on another strong defensive display, but the Cats defence looked incapable of stopping the West onslaught.

West look set to play finals while the Cats appear to have another long season in front of them, unless they start to listen to coach Bob Boston and play the style and game he wants.
