Hawks early premiership favourites

Hungry Jacks Hawks remain early favourites for the Senior Table Tennis Competition with a great win over second placed Port Augusta Refrigeration Eagles

In a close encounter there were many five setters which could have gone either way, the most exciting being Vicky Bemmerl defeating Penny Hooper 13/11 in the last set. Grant Keane also had an excellent win over Karl Chamberlain 12/10 in the last and in a battle for the top doubles Grant Keane and Rhys Bavington defeated Stewart Vincent and Karl Chamberlain in high standard affair.

The South Bulldogs came up against the Crows.

Best matches included Bulldogs new recruit Todd Phillips defeating new player Jack Dong 11/9 in the last and youngster Pranov Nair defeating Jayden Calyun 11/7 in the fifth.

Phillips also lost to Matt Gower who made up for his Port Power blues with a good win.

Magic FM Power defeated National Bank Go Nabs.

It was a first win for the Magic FM Power combination with Richard Frencham continuing his excellent form.

Best matches included Ian Long defeating Matt Prentis in the fifth set and Simon McNichol finding his form with a good win over Prassana Nair in a marathon.

Showdown between McDonalds Power, Magic FM Crows

In the junior competition, Port Augusta Refrigeration Eagles went down to a comprehensive win by the Bulldogs.

The win was the Bulldogs’ first for the year with many good players.

The best game was when Dylan Cameron defeated Daniel Glass 13/11 in the fifth set.

The showdown between McDonalds Power and Magic FM Crows produced an excellent game which was decided in the final singles.

Well done to Ethan Penglase and Barry Carlton who had a five setters, Penglase winning 11/5 in the last.

Power had more consistency in the singles to get them over the line.

Awards for this week went to Dale Venning in the seniors and Matt Rowbottom, Riley Dunneman and Craig Shirley who continued their good form winning their singles matches
