West were a little undermanned and were still competitive. They should regain some of the bigger names this week and dent Port’s rising hopes of a third successive SGL flag.

Mathematically the Hawks could still finish second and have the luxury of playing Sollies in the last round. The team that seemed most likely at the half-way point, slumped but have a huge opportunity to put themselves into the frame for a Grand Final appearance.

Very good defensively the Hawks still struggle to post a big score but recently have done well against the Greens and will win in a close one.
