The highlight of the Saturday's Port Augusta Greyhound Racing Club meet on May 23, will be the 682m distance event - The West End Anniversary Cup.
This race is expected to attract some of the best dogs in the state.
Dogs that contested the distance a fortnight ago will have benefited from the run.
Of these, greyhound Third Edition is tipped to continue its good Port Augusta form.
The recent Chinnery Park meeting was another successful event.
It was the product of the combined resources of both the Port Augusta and Whyalla Greyhound Clubs.
The final of the maiden was run by the consistent One Way Current (of Two Wells).
Heats of the grade five event were conducted with the final to be run Saturday.
Good form was shown by Benske trained by Don Fiebig (Booleroo Centre), Cool Evening trained by Dale Martin (Lewiston), Ferdie Bale trained by Michelle Thomas (Whyalla) and Anthony Digance's Splash Magoo (from Stirling North).
On June 20, the heats of the season's highlight, the Port Augusta City Council Cup, will be run followed by the final the following week.
Prize money of $2,500 should attract greyhounds from all over the state and Broken Hill.
