Sizzling squash final

06 May, 2009 09:19 AM
The weather is much cooler now, but the heat was still soaring on with the start of finals for midweek squash.

Wild Eagles had a deserved win over the Crazy Cats.

Paul Pratt was to play Chris Jessop but after their teams had played Chris would have had to beat Paul in three, it’s a bit like saying you saw the cow jump over the moon, not.

So they did not play.

Peter Dack was to play Lyn Weisshaupt but unfortunately has an injury so Shaun Davidson filled in for him.

After the first game Lyn must have thought she had no hope.

Shaun must have put a halo around the ball as he just could do no wrong at all.

Lyn then cranked up another gear and started to pace it out a bit more.

It was a much closer game than the first but she went down 7/9.

Then in the third, Shaun lost that little halo and had to get his white stick out, I think his brain went into total wipe out and Lyn got that game 9/1.

He then came back though, must have done a back up on his computer brain and managed to take the game 9/6 and the match from Lyn in 3/1. Judy Brusnahan then faced Cherie Gerlach.

Cherie did really well in the first taking if off Judy 9/5. Then all of a sudden she found this huge hole, Judy missed it completely but Cherie fell in it big time and lost the light of day.

Judy then won the match 3/1. Andrea Miller had a good morning today as she played Jackie Jessop.

Well I say that because she did get the first game from Jackie.

That in itself is a huge task as Jackie is seeded much higher than Andrea but a bonus for her to pick up a game.

Well Andrea was like a little rabbit fluffing around the court, so well done to her.

Then it came the Hacowies turn against the Wrangler Janes.

Phillip Morphett was back with us this week and played Terry Giles. Phil must have forgotten where he was as Terry was right on the ball in the first game and took it off of Phil 12/5.

Phillip then up the energy rating after that as he fought for the second game winning it 12/8.

Terry obviously didn’t say his prayers before he went to bed last night as in the last two games nothing worked for him at all.

He in fact found that big hole but filled it in with him in it. Phillip won the match 3/1.

I was then to play Lucy Kenefick. Now I haven’t played for at least four weeks or more, so it’s just a matter of what part of my body malfunctions or what falls off first.

The first game I was looking down a barrel at first but managed to work my way out of it but still went down 9/7 to Lucy.

The second game didn’t look much brighter either.

Then in the third game I just managed to take if off Lucy 10/8, with still a bit of the enamel stuck to my teeth.

Lucy then took the 4th game off me and winning the match 3/1.

Pat McMahon then played Tracey McHugh.

Unfortunately Tracey did not have a great day at all, she must have had two left feet today and Pat won the match 3/0.

Then it was Wendy McMahons turn against Loretta Baker.

Wendy left no stone unturned as she flashed around the court and eluded Loretta today and won the match 3/0.

It was a close call between the Hacowies and the Wrangler Janes as they both had two rubbers and seven games each but the Hacowies were in front by six points so they will now go straight into the grand final.
