BUSINESS: Port Augusta businesses are being encouraged to attend an information session to find out how they can tap into OZ Minerals' $1 billion Carrapateena mining operation.

Global Maintenance Upper Spencer Gulf (GMUSG) is hosting a Community Information Session for OZ Minerals and Industry Capability Network (ICN) to provide information to local businesses about the Carrapateena Project.

It will be held on Tuesday, May 30, from 7-8pm at the Charles Chappel Room, Standpipe Hotel, Daw Street, Port Augusta.

OZ Minerals’ will introduce local businesses to its partners that have been engaged for the next stage of the Carrapateena Project.

The session will include an overview of the Project Status, explanation of the role of the ICN and GMUSG in the project and information about how to register interest in working on the Project.

The $1 billion iron-oxide copper-gold deposit operation is located on the eastern margin of the Gawler Craton, 160 kilometres north of Port Augusta.

A Concentrate Treatment Plant (CTP) is also being proposed in alignment with the Carrapateena project.

The CTP is an innovative solution to managing impurities present in copper concentrate.

Port Augusta appears to be in the box-seat for the CTP despite previous signals the project was destined for Whyalla.

The session will also cover the types of ‘work packages’ that each contractor is likely to be subcontracting or goods that they will be procuring, the indicative timing for tendering or quoting for work and details on pre-qualification processes.

ICN SA is managing the registration of suppliers for this project and businesses who would like to register themselves for project opportunities can do so via the ICN website.

Information on the ICN Gateway database will be shared with Oz Minerals’ sourcing teams when seeking new suppliers.

To be considered for tender you must be registered on the ICN Gateway database.

If you are planning on attending the May 30 session, please register at this website
