MORE DEMOLITIONS were carried out at the Northern Power Station on Saturday as a coal conveyor section, known as Tower G, and the adjacent Economiser 2 structures were safely and successfully felled.

Staff and contractors remained off site while a small team of charge-felling experts controlled the activity.

While there were concerns over coal dust leaving the site after a stack earlier in the year caused some dust linger over the town, optimal weather conditions ensured the dust dissipated quickly.

Officials said real-time monitors failed to show any increased level of dust after the event. Flinders Power have credited the successful demolition to the combined work of alliance partner McMahon Services Australia, Precision Demolition and emergency services personnel.
