Spencer Gulf Football League Round 13 preview

Central Augusta and West Augusta have both been incredibly out of form, with West astonishingly losing five of their last six games.

It’s almost mathematically impossible for Central to make finals after winning just two games this season so far, but their most recent win was over West. The injury list to West has continued to grow with a lot of their better players sidelined, but I think they’ll just get over the line, which they are going to need to do if they want to be a genuine premiership contender.

Last Time: West 8.9 (57) def. by Central 12.11 (83)

Patrick’s Pick: West by 10 points.

Expect the game between second-placed South Augusta and fifth-placed Port to be a blowout.

Last time these two met, it was a day to forget for Port as they were demolished by 166 points. South are in fantastic form and should continue their quest of booking a top two spot.

Last Time: South 31.13 (199) def. Port 5.3 (33)

Patrick’s Pick: South by 70 points.

We have seen an incredible turnaround for Solomontown from last year, going from wooden spooners to almost unbeatable.

I would be surprised if the Cats didn’t continue their winning run this week against PropRisdon Lions. Lions have pushed up to third and had a good showing against West last week, but I think the Cats will be far too good.

Coverage of this game will commence from 2pm on Trax FM 105.1.

Last Time: Lions 8.10 (58) def. by Sollies 12.10 (82)

Patrick’s Pick: Sollies by 45 points.
