Peter James Coad OAM, formerly of Martins Well in the Far North, was 13 when he and his brother made their musical debut on 5AU. It was the start of a career that has now spanned 56 years. His musical talents have been enjoyed throughout Australia and overseas.
Mr Coad has inspired and opened doors for many other Australian performers as a co-founder and president of the Australian Bush Balladeer’s Association and quarterly magazine formed in 1999.
The entertainer, concert promoter and recording artist has celebrated many achievements throughout his career including Western NSW Balladeer of the Year in 2014, inductee in the South Australian Country Music Hall of Fame in 2015, inductee into the Tamworth Hands of Fame in 2007 and many album and songwriter awards.
He can now add the prestigious title of Medal of the Order of Australia to his name. Mr Coad said he felt like he was being rewarded for doing something he loved.
