A CUT-THROAT, do-or-die elimination final felt like anything but, as the relentless pressure from PropRisdon Lions caused the struggling West Augusta side to crumble.

It seemed as though Lions were free to do as they liked, as they ran all over their opponents.

West had one of their best line-ups for the season, but it was not enough as Jordan Fuller gathered plenty of possessions and delivered beautifully to Travis Ley, supplying him with enough of the ball for him to kick nine goals.

The game started at lightening pace, with the Lions going straight into attack and an unbelievable dribble goal from the pocket by Ley gave West just a taste of what was to come their way.

PropRisdon kicked the game’s first three goals within four minutes to put the Hawks behind the eightball early.

West just couldn’t get any attacking play as the pressure was too much, and forced turnovers caused scoring opportunities for Lions. The Pirie side dominated the first half by allowing just three West goals.

Tom Harmer was one of the main contributors for Lions, but West were also their own worst enemy on the day.

West’s disposal going inside 50 wasn’t up to an acceptable standard and unfortunately things went from bad to worse in the second half.

Everyone was getting involved for the Lions, as the impressive Fraser Wyatt booted two goals in a row on the back of brilliant forward press.

The sting was taken out of the game by the fourth quarter as West began to fold due to the intensity from Lions, who ran out 69-point victors.

There were few passengers from the Lions side but the same could not be said for West.

Lions’ Jordan Fuller shone on the big stage, while Jaymie Westley and Tom Harmer were awesome in getting their side into attack.

Westies Captain Michael Curley tried to will his side into the contest but he had little support. Joe Packard and Corie Singleton also did what they could to halt the Lions’ momentum, but it was nowhere near enough as their season was ended.
