IGNITE Cheer and Dance lit up the stage at the Aussie Gold State Spectacular in Adelaide, scoring a record number of placings at the state championships.

49 athletes from Ignite competed in 32 routines, with all teams achieving personal bests, including the Open Contemporary – Haze team, which took out first place with the highest overall contemporary score of the weekend.

The senior contemporary team’s success was one of eight first-place finishes for Ignite, taking out gold in the Youth Group Stunt Level 1, Youth Lyrical, Junior Lyrical and Open Level 2 Group Stunt group categories.

In the duo categories, Ella Dixon triumphed in both Junior Lyrical and Junior Jazz with Kyla Pfitzner and Macee Reynolds respectively, while Chloe Hillman and Emily Vella had success in Senior Jazz.

Ignite Coach Madeline Johnson said all 49 of her athletes worked very hard to train and perfect their routines.

“Their commitment to each other as teammates, and to Ignite as a club, really showed over the weekend and I was proud of the way they represented Ignite and Port Augusta, both on the stage, and off the stage,” she said.

“These are amazing results. Everyone at Ignite Cheer and Dance is very proud of them. It is an amazing way to finish off our competition season for 2017, which has been our biggest competition season ever.”

Ignite is hosting their annual Open Day at the Ignite Cheer and Dance Studio, 44 Tassie Street, giving budding dancers the chance to sign up for the 2018 season. Ms Johnson said there are no auditions, but spots fill up fast.

“If you would like to try the fastest growing sport in Australia, All Star Cheer, or have an interest in dance, Ignite will be taking registrations for 2018 at our annual Open Day,” she said.

“We can't wait for you to join the Ignite family!”

Ignite will cap off their season with an End of Year Concert Extravaganza at the Lea Memorial Theatre on Saturday, December 2.
