THE FOOTBALL Federation South Australia (FFSA) is hosting a free Port Augusta Soccer Carnival Day on Saturday, November 25 at Stirling North Primary School.

Three sessions will be held during the carnival, with a training for boys and girls aged 5 to 12 from 12:30 to 1:30pm, followed by a girls only (aged 5-12) training from 1:40-2:40pm, and a skills acquisition training for 12 to 15 year olds from 3-4pm.

The carnival will give regional players a taste of what is to come in 2018, with the FFSA launching a 16-week Regional Development Centre program in Port Augusta in January.

The Centre provides budding local soccer stars with world class training with FFSA qualified coaches and a fun and professional learning environment.

The aim is to get more players from Northern areas involved in the federation’s ALDI MiniRoos program.

FFSA Head of Game Development John Mundy is pleased to bring the national standardised approach to regional players, giving them the opportunity to shine and develop.

“FFSA is committed to identifying players from all over the state and to create pathways and opportunities for them to succeed at the highest level of the game. Regional players and their parents have to sacrifice a lot to achieve these goals and should be congratulated accordingly,” he said.
