WINNING SHOT: Ellen Ekberg will represent the Port Augusta Gardening Club on the front cover of the Yellow and White Pages.

Every time you reach for the phone book this year you’ll be greeted by the smiling face of Port Augusta Gardening Club’s Ellen Ekberg.

The Club will feature on the front cover of the 2018 Yellow and White Pages Port Augusta book after winning a competition to find our cities Gardening Great.

Not only will the Port Augusta Gardening Club and their beautiful garden appear on the cover, but their gardening tip will also appear on the inside of the front cover for local residents to use.

“When we found out we had been chosen as Port Augusta’s Gardening Great, we were totally shocked but very excited to accept the title,” Kay Copley explained the Club’s excitement upon receiving the news.

“The group has been active for 40 years and our members have found no better way to relax and be creative, while also contributing to making our community more sustainable and beautiful.”

“I hope our gardening tips will inspire others in the Port Augusta region to get out and start a garden of their own.”

The search for Port Augusta’s Gardening Great exists as a result of the partnership between the Yellow Pages, White Pages and the Australian City Farms and Community Gardens Network (ACFCGN).

A first of its kind, the venture will see all Port Augusta directories used to celebrate the achievements of the ACFCGN, who work to promote the benefits of community gardening and urban agriculture.

Distribution of the 2017/18 Port Augusta Yellow Pages and White Pages cobound book, featuring the Port Augusta Gardening Club, will take place from April 21, 2018.
