The Nerrilda/Ramsay Auxiliary hosted its third fundraising breakfast of the year, generating a total of $1600 to go towards entertaining events for Port Augusta’s aged care residents.
Locals gathered at the Port Augusta Yacht Club on Sunday, September 9, with about 50 breakfast meals served on the warm spring morning.
Auxiliary Vice-President Anne-Marie Seagrim hailed the breakfast as a great community event.
“It is not just about raising funds to enhance the lives of our residents, it is about bringing our community together, which our new Nerrilda/Ramsay Auxiliary certainly does,” Mrs Seagrim said.
“We had families of the residents attending, as well as out of town tourists, which was sensational. They loved the venue.”
The Auxiliary raises funds to help create fun and excitement for residents at both Edenfield Family Care Ramsay and Nerrilda.
The Auxiliary has facilitated a variety of activities for the aged care homes, including visits from the Animals Anonymous petting zoo and cartoonist Allan Addams.
The purpose of the quirky events is to enhance the wellbeing of residents.
A Father’s Day Raffle was drawn at the fundraising breakfast, with Jeanette Dyer holding the golden ticket, while Debbie Slee and Bernice Racanati took home second and third prize respectively.
The Auxiliary has plans to host another movie night in November, as well as its last breakfast for 2018 in December.
The Auxiliary thanked its long list of donors and supporters for getting behind the event.
