ETSA wins Sunday of Pirie carnival

Round three of the Thursday pennant competition was played last Thursday with the following results:

Port Augusta Maroon – Barb Flower 18, Kay Reynolds 31 d. ETSA Blue – Pat Zubrinich 16, Barb Griffin 17.

ETSA Gold – Sandra King 22, Kath Banks 20 d. Golf Blue – Helen Smith 14, Margaret Phillips 18.

Port Augusta Pink – Sue Brady 34, Carol Shillabeer, 18 d. Golf Red – Gai Travers 9, Shirley Row 19.

At this stage the top three teams are Port Augusta Maroon on 40 points, Port Augusta Pink on 38 points and ETSA Gold on 29 points.

However three of the remaining teams have had byes, so the table is likely to change as the season progresses.

Spring Carnival success

Port Augusta bowlers joined almost 300 competitors to test the new $500,000 synthetic greens at the highly acclaimed Spring Carnival hosted by Port Pirie Bowling Club.

Port Lincoln won the women’s event on the Thursday and Orroroo, comprising Ted Schultz, Colin Parkyn, Ken McKay and Malcolm Harding, took the Friday men’s title.

Ascot Park, including Caleb Connor, grandson of Kevin Connor, of Port Pirie, won the men’s program on Saturday and Port Augusta’s ETSA Bowling Club men’s team was successful on the Sunday.

Port Pirie Bowling Club secretary Peter Orvad said the carnival had been highly successful.
