Digging deep for community

Gus Price-Baxter, a student at Caritas College, has been selected to represent SA in Darwin next month at the Australian Schools Track and Field Championships, in high jump. Gus, with the assistance of his family, was busy fundraising. The Lions Club of Port Augusta was very happy to assist Gus getting to Darwin with a donation of $300.

The Lions Club of Port Augusta was asked to provide funding for a girl with special needs to buy an Edge Trike to enable her to be more mobile and build up her strength and coordination.

The club was approached by the chairman of the Australian Lions Children's Mobility Foundation and Novita to provide the funding and be the sponsor for this Lions project. The happy recipient of this trike was Port Augusta Special School student Shakira Thompson.

Shakira's mother was grateful for this gift from the club and thanked the club for the work they do for the community, and putting happiness into the lives of children with different needs.

The club would like to thank Shakira for accepting the Edge Trike and her mother and father for their help in this project. We would also like to thank the community for supporting us with our fundraising events to be able to provide a local donation and help like this.
