Four drug drivers caught in blitz

Three policing regions joined forces to conduct operation High Impact Fatal Five at Port Augusta last week. Passive Drug Detection Dog Pluto was on hand to assist police from Far North, Eyre Western and Yorke Mid North in their efforts. Between 10am and 10pm on Thursday, August 22 over 1200 drivers were breath-tested, with zero drink driving offences detected. Four drivers tested positive to drugs and the samples have been sent for forensic testing.

Police Dog Pluto helped with vehicle searches, resulting in ten cannabis expiation notices. A further 15 expiation notices and 38 defect notices were issued. Police across the state are undertaking Operation High Impact Fatal Five this month targeting people committing offences against the Fatal Five which include drink or drug driving, speeding, distraction offences, seatbelts and dangerous road users.
