Congratulations to the winners of the West Side Story competition which was run in conjunction with the South Australian regional Australian Community Media newspapers.

The delighted winners who answered the question of what are the names of the two lovers (main characters) of West Side Story, (which is Tony and Maria) were Andrea Wegener, of Mannum, Kay Cavill, of Naracoorte, Barbara Gee, of Goolwa South, Jan Bolitho, of Port Augusta, and Julian Bayha, of Tanunda.

They will be travelling to the Adelaide Festival Theatre to see the musical on November 28.

West Side Story is a theatrical masterpiece which emulates the classic tale of Romeo and Juliet in music and dance.

Set in New York, the story is told through the love of two people who are from 'different sides of the street' or, in this case, from rival gangs.

The musical is directed by Joey McKneely and features Todd Jacobsson as Tony, and Sophie Salvesani as Maria, in the lead roles.

Jacobsson was last seen on stage as Elder White in the Book of Mormon and has appeared in other productions such as Pirates of Penzance and Guys and Dolls.

Sophie Salvesani made her professional debut as Maria after numerous roles in community theatre in productions such as Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables.

Tickets for the limited season (November 28 to December 8) are priced from $59.95 and are on sale at https://secure.adelaidefestivalcentre.com.au/ticketing/WEBPAGES/Event/Dates.aspx
