To say Kylie Cameron and her family have been dealt a tougher hand than most would be an understatement.
Kylie is a survivor of Hodgkin's Lymphoma, her son Beau was born with a brain stem tumour and in August, her mother Margaret was diagnosed with an incurable brain tumour.
"The news about mum was a big hit, but we have all stuck together and stayed positive all the way through it," Kylie said.
Her son Beau is a beacon of light for the family. At just three-and-a-half months old doctors advised Kylie to turn off his life support.
Now at age 10, bright and happy, Beau is their miracle boy.
"They turned the machine off after they took a third of the tumour away from the brain stem. They said there was no hope and sent us home to organise his funeral and all that sort of stuff and now look at him," Kylie said.
"He goes to mainstream school, he does have cerebral palsy and magnetic rods in his back ... but neurologically he's a brain whizz.
"He's a miracle boy and my mum lives by that as well. Beau gives her the strength to get through every day."
Kylie and her support group have organised a Walk4BrainCancer in honour of Margaret.
Longtime family friend Christine Munzer is also joining the walk, describing Margaret as a rock.
"Now that its affected Margaret, everybody wants to help. Everybody," Christine said.
"She's the most selfless, beautiful caring person you could ever come across. She never puts herself first, like most mums, and never complains."
On November 24, the community is invited to join Kylie and walk two or five kilometres along the foreshore for a gold coin donation to the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation.
"I'm doing it to keep my mind active and not fall into a heap, just to do something for a great cause," Kylie said.
"I'm hoping for a fun, happy, relaxing day down at the foreshore. I hope All the community come down with their gold coin donations because it all goes straight to the Foundation."
Registrations can be made online or in person on the day.
A sausage sizzle and cake stall will also be on site.
