The Port Augusta Lions Club have continued their International Peace Poster Contest, selecting three local students to share their unique visions with the world.

The contest encourages youth in the community to promote peace, tolerance and creatively express what those values mean to them.

Tori Groth, Darshana Rajkumar and Isobel McTaggart of Caritas College were recently presented with winning certificates by Lions Club President Steve Fawcett.

"This is the fifth year in a row the Lions Club of Port Augusta has run the Peace Poster Contest locally for the you of our city and Caritas College is happy to continue with it next year as well," Mr Fawcett said.

The winning posters will be taken to the District Convention in Wallaroo this week, along with other winning posters from around the state.

The winners from that round of judging will then be presented to the Multiple District Lions Convention at Adelaide in May 2020.

The posters are evaluated based on three criteria; originality, artistic merit and expression of the theme, 'Journey of Peace'.

10-year-old Darshana drew a number of flags on her poster accompanied by a globe to represent her vision of a peaceful, multicultural society.

"Peace is about celebrating our multicultural earth's society, represented by significant and unique flags and cities which shape our wonderful world," she wrote on the back of her poster.
