Police have arrested a man following a crime spree in Port Augusta.
About 8.30pm on Sunday, July 26, the man allegedly broke into local business Country Ranges Clothing, Fodder and Saddelry by forcing open a security shutter and smashing the front door.
A number of items were stolen, but business owner Amelia Greenfield was grateful on site dog 'Flinders' was safe and sound.
About an hour later, police patrols were driving along Tassie Street when they spotted a man fitting the description obtained from the business's CCTV. The man ran off as patrols approached to speak to him.
He was arrested after a short foot chase and found in possession of the stolen items from the break-in.
The man allegedly assaulted the officers while trying to arrest him.
Police were able to link the man to two other car break-ins which occurred in View Street and Hospital Road just prior to the business break.
A 42-year-old man form Port Augusta was charged with serious criminal trespass, two counts of illegal interference, theft and two counts of assaulting a prescribed emergency worker.
