Umeewarra Media Cheif Executive Officer Vince Coulthard said the project shows that Aboriginal people can "turn their hand to anything".
"I am so proud of the people who took part in the workshops and look forward to seeing them stand tall as their films hit the big screen," he said.
"Aboriginal voices are so important and that is why Umeewarra Media exists - to promote and platform the many strong voices, great stories and inventive projects that we produce.
"The Umee StoryBOX invites everyone to share a yarn about Port Augusta and I hope to see many people get involved."
All community members are encouraged to take part and be involved in making history this on Friday, October 30 at 10am in Gladstone Square.
The short stories will be screened the following evening at the Umeewarra Media 'We all have Yarns' event.
Following a workshop with local photographer/filmmaker and mentor Lavene Ngatokorua and Adelaide based photographer Nat Rogers, Port Augusta locals have produced short films from only their smartphones.
These short films range from themes of childhood memories, to loss of family, to art.
Some stories are likely to bring a tear and some will make you laugh.
"I was blown away to see what was achieved through this short workshop," Ms Ngatokorua.said.
"We know our community have many stories to tell and we are good at telling them and now are proud to be able to share some of our stories through this project.
"I hope the people that took part in the workshop continue to tell their stories through their phones and give the world some insight into our lives."
