Missing Port Augusta man last seen in outback town

A Port Augusta West man is at the centre of an outback mystery.

Police are seeking help from people to find missing Mason Szanto, 18, who was last seen in Leigh Creek about 10am on Sunday, October 3, near the sports oval.

Mr Szanto is 170cm tall, of slim build, with blonde hair, blue eyes and thin beard and was wearing a black shirt, grey-black pants and had a Champion bag.

Police said he might have tried to hitchhike back to the Port Augusta area and was known to frequent outback areas including the town of Copley.

Fears are held for his welfare and anyone who sees him should call 131444.

A helicopter was used in the search for Mr Szanto and State Emergency Service volunteers scoured the area.
