Informer: Sometimes a drizzle turns into a storm
When it rains, it pours - and boy, is it pouring across most of eastern Australia right now.
There was a lot of excitement about post-lockdown hair cuts for those of us in NSW - but my hair has been in a state of constant frizz thanks to this ugly weather.
And that's nothing compared to what our farmers are going through right now.
Flooding has been so bad, particularly in the state's central west, that the state's peak agricultural body, NSW Farmers is calling on the state and federal governments to expand the recent natural disaster declaration.
NSW Farmers grains committee chairman Justin Everitt said support measures would be crucial as growers were reporting that floodwaters had completely covered their crops - with many switching their focus from this year's harvest to saving their homes.
Now that La Nina has reared her very damp head, there won't be any reprieve any time soon.
In fact, Eastern Australia has already been marked for a "wetter than average summer".
There goes that outdoor summer we've all been dreaming of!
NSW Police are also battling wild weather in their ongoing investigation into the disappearance of William Tyrell.
Detective Chief Superintendent Darren Bennett, NSW Police State Crime Command Director said they were "very happy with the progress so far", despite the rain.
Our PM has found himself amidst another storm with yet another Coalition MP crossing the floor.
Tasmanian MP Bridget Archer broke ranks and sailed across the floor to back independent MP Helen Haines' push to establish a federal anti-corruption watchdog.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison was forced to push back at the suggestion the he had lost control of Parliament.
He said Labor wanted the kind of "kangaroo court" which led to former NSW Premier Berejiklian's resignation last month.
"Those opposite want to support the sort of show in NSW which has seen the most shameful attacks on the former premier," he said.
"What was done to Gladys Berejiklian, the people of NSW know, was an absolute disgrace."
Morrison sure has changed his mind real quick considering he promised he would deliver an integrity watchdog in the lead-up to the 2019 election.
Another backflip, perhaps?
Meanwhile up in the NT, remote communities near Katherine are still battling a COVID-19 outbreak.
Senior Binjari community members said rumours being spread on social media were "hurting the very people they claim to care about".
"We don't need people out there creating another flood for us," their statement said.
"We are in lockdown because we're in the biggest fight of our lives."
